Face Your Baby Tigers and Other Great Advice from Dad

Gambar
When Akhila Satish was learning her multiplication tables, 8x7 presented a challenge: "I used to always want to skip it," says the CEO of productivity research company Meseekna. But her father would encourage her to tackle the problem head on, so that a small problem didn't become a bigger problem down the road. Satish says she learned from her father that problems are easier to manage in the beginning "in the same way that a baby tiger may be scary but is far less of a challenge to handle than a fully grown tiger," she says. "But if you let things fester, they have the potential to turn into fully grown, hungry tigers that are very difficult to manage."  Parents are often a great source of wisdom; many of the lessons they teach stay with us all the way to the corner office. This Baby Seal Safari Is the Reason You Have to Go To Canada Next Winter

Gambar
Clad in bright orange survival suits, we tumble out of four helicopters and scramble across a patch of floating pack ice in the Gulf of St. Lawrence in hot pursuit of one of the cutest marine mammal babies on the planet. The yellow-white lumps should be hard to see but they're squirming so they stand out on the jagged landscape of pure white snow. Some are emitting gut-wrenching, primal sounds that are a cross between a newborn baby and a mewling kitten. The first one we gather around is with its mom and safely back from the precarious edge where melting sea ice meets frigid ocean water. The winter gloves come off. The cameras come out. The Canadian seal pup adventure begins.  We've got about an hour with the "whitecoats," give or take the helicopter pilots blowing emergency whistles to say the weather is changing and we must leave immediately. How lucky are we to be here, near Quebec's Magdalen Islands, in a narrow window between yesterday's extreme fog and t

New poll explores parental attitudes toward the cleanliness of baby products

Gambar
Seventy-eight percent of new parents constantly worry about exposing their babies to germs and other 'dirty' things, according to new research. A survey of 2,000 parents (with infants 0-6 months old) found 67% of respondents don't think they clean their infant's things as often as they should. Considering the average infant will drop six things in a single day, parents are constantly picking up dirty essentials that their infants are then putting in — or touching to — their mouths. Conducted by OnePoll in partnership with Philips Avent, the survey examined parents' worries and cleaning habits when it comes to their infants. The poll uncovered the average infant will throw or drop an item 168 times in a single month. As babies drop things like bottles and toys, 68% of the parents studied revealed they genuinely worry they are not cleaning things their little ones come in contact with as thoroughly as directed. And 76% are always worried about the cleanliness of the t

Phil Mickelson's most memorable equipment moments

Phil Mickelson is turning 50, a milestone to be sure and also a time for reflection. As a golf writer covering the equipment scene on the professional tours for some 20 years, Lefty is the gift that keeps on giving. Whether it's one of his numerous equipment changes, "special" clubs for certain tournaments or controversy over equipment (even spikes), Mickelson rarely is left out of the equipment discussion. In celebration of Mickelson turning the big 5-0, here's a sampling of some of the memorable equipment moments of his career. It's been so long now that not everyone remembers Mickelson was with Yonex for the first eight years of his PGA Tour career. He won 17 times with the company's equipment, including its graphite-shafted ADX Tour Forged irons and, later, its Super Rekin irons, making him one of the few players at the time to use graphite shafts. Later on, Mickelson admitted the shafts, at times, led to er

Johnson & Johnson discontinues baby powder products in US as talcum powder's link to ovarian cancer remains

Gambar
By Latisha Catchatoorian, WRAL Digital Solutions This article was written for our sponsor, Whitley Law Firm. In 1894, Johnson & Johnson introduced a product made of crushed talc it dubbed "baby powder." For more than a century, people — especially women — used this baby powder as an everyday health and hygiene product. However, recent evidence has linked this talc-based product (and similar ones from other manufacturers) to ovarian cancer. In May 2020, Johnson & Johnson announced it would stop selling its legacy baby powder product in the United States and Canada. The company denied allegations its products are responsible for health problems and, instead, cited the North American decline in demand for talc-based baby powder as the reason for its product halt coupled with "misinformation" around the safety of these products. "Talcum powder, as it's produced by multip

Cute Baby & Kids Clothes Hangers to Get Their Closet Organized

Gambar
One of the hotspots for kids clutter in your home, aside from the playroom or wherever their toys are, is their closet. We've all been there when we've been searching for an item to later find it sitting on the back of the closet floor.
