Burt Lumber Holding Personal Protective Equipment Donation Drive
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Burt Lumber, a lumberyard in Huntington Station, organized an ongoing Personal Protective Equipment Drive in an effort to help health care workers stationed at Huntington Hospital who are battling the new coronavirus. Earlier in April, Burt Lumber donated 300 masks and 1,000 pairs of gloves, and will continue to send in any items it gets a hold of. The company is asking the community for help.
"We are urging our fellow community members to join us in donating any PPE and other necessary items that you have available to help keep our healthcare workers at the forefront of this pandemic safe," the business wrote on its Facebook page.
Burt Lumber has a donation bin inside its store at 51 W. Hills Road. Needed items include N95 masks, surgical masks, safety goggles, face shields, disposable gowns, hair covers, surgical caps and video baby monitors.
The store is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays. It's closed Sundays. If you'd like to drop something off after-hours, call Evangelina Lanza at 516-672-2169 to coordinate.
